It is telling me incorrect product numbers when I connect through a network. My computer crashed and I’m attempting to redownload Quickbooks premier edition 2019 on a new computer.
Thanks for reaching out on our forum.
I’m here to help you with the product activation problem.
Before we begin with any of the solutions for this error, I recommend that you verify your product and license numbers. Here’s where you can find them:
- Purchased Quickbooks desktop from Intuit’s website: you can log into your Intuit account and go to the purchase section to get all the details about your product purchase, including the product number.
- Purchased QuickBooks desktop from a third party retailer: the cover of installation disc that you received from the seller contains the activations details: product and license numbers.
You can use the following tools if you’re entering the correct activation details but the activation process still fails:
- QuickBooks Clean Install Tool: it removes QuickBooks desktop from the registry. So even if a previous copy or the uninstalled copy of the software is registered on windows, the tool will be able to remove it and resolve any conflicts.
- QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool: it scans your system for missing or damaged dependencies. Then it takes the appropriate actions such as updating, repairing or installing the required dependencies.
Fix the ECML File
Since you’ve reinstalled the program, this may be a rare occurrence. Still, you can try out this solution after you’ve used the two utilities that I’ve mentioned above.
To recreate the entitlementdatastore.ecml file, you can delete it from the program files of QuickBooks. When you launch the accounting software again, it’ll create a new ecml file to store the product and license details so that you can use the full version of QuickBooks desktop on your system.
Fix dependencies manually
If you don’t want to rely on tools to fix these dependencies, then you can do so on your own. The control panel offers the feature to modify and uninstall programs. When you modify them, you can use the repair utility that comes built in with most windows programs, including the dependencies for QuickBooks such as .NET Framework, MSXML files, etc.
You can choose the program and click on the repair option to fix the error with the program.
Note: you can also reinstall these dependencies and find the setup files for them on Microsoft’s website.
Also, go through the system requirements for your version of QuickBooks desktop, especially if you’ve upgraded the program. If your system falls short of the minimum requirements or you find other programs leaving little resources for QuickBooks desktop, then consider upgrading your system for better performance.
Let me know if these solutions worked for you. And you can post the solution that you found helpful so that other users can benefit from it.
