Quickbooks Error “Response is not well-formed XML”

Steps to handle the QuickBooks message XML document not well-formed

The first resolution would be that you will have to remove the files from the QuickBooks POS entitlement client folder. For this purpose, you need to follow the below steps:

Step 1.

At first, you will have to press Windows + R to open the search box on your computer screen.

Step 2.

In step 2, in the search field, you will have to type Services. MSC, and click on enter

Step 3.

After step 2, you need to right-click on the Intuit Entitlement service vX (X being the highest number of version) and click on Stop.

Step 4.

Now you need to close the window and follow the process of displaying hidden files and folders or you can also search for files using the windows search option.

Step 5.

Now choose Show hidden files, folders, and drives and unclick the hide protected system operating files checkbox.


After that in the left window, you need to type “C:\Program Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\vX”, and click enter, and after that remove all the files from the folder.
This should resolve the error, for displaying hidden files you need to follow the below steps:

On Windows 10:

Step 1.

First of all, you need to select the folder icon to open File Explorer on your Desktop/ system tray.

Step 2.

After that, you need to click on the View tab and select the hidden files.

On windows 8.1/8

Step 1.

At first, you need to type Windows + E to open File Explorer.

Step 2.

After that you need to click on View tab > select the file extensions and then click on hidden files.
If you want to search files in windows (10, 8.1/8) then you need to follow the below steps:

Step 1.

First of all, press Windows + E, the command will open windows explorer.

Step 2.

Now you need to press the CTRL+F to select the search box: after that, you need to enter the file name, part name, asterisk as a substitute for the name along with an extension like *.qbw for QuickBooks data files, *.doc for word documents, etc.

If you are unable to resolve the XML error with the help of the above steps, then you will have to repair the QuickBooks desktop point of sale integrated platform. If it still does not work for you, after the repair you will have to perform a clean reinstall for QuickBooks point of sale.
