    3. Now Enter ipconfig /all.

  • .qbw (Working Files)
  • .qbb (Back Up Files)
  • .qba (Accountants Copy Files)
  • .qbx (Accountants Transfer Files)
  • .qby (Accountants Change Files)

Once you are able to successfully find the file, note down its location and follow the given below solution number 3.

3. Solution Three: Open your file in QuickBooks

Now open the searched file in QuickBooks.

A. For opening a company file (.qbw) or an accountant’s copy (.qba).

  • Go to the QuickBooks File menu, from there choose Open or Restore Company.
  • Now choose Open a Company File.
  • Then click on Next.
  • Choose the Company file, or simply go to the folder having the Company File.
  • Click on Open.

B. Restore a Backup (.qbb)

  • Go to the QuickBooks File menu, from there choose Open or Restore Company.
  • Now select Restore a Backup File.
  • Then click on Next.
  • Choose a Local backup.
  • Choose the Company File, or go to a folder having the company file.
  • Now click on Next.
  • Go to the preferred location where you would like to save the restored file.
  • Then click on Save.

C. Restore an Accountants Copy Transfer file (.qbx)

  • Go to the QuickBooks File menu, from there choose Open or Restore a company.
  • Now click on Convert and Accountant’s Copy Transfer File.
  • Then click on Next.
  • In case the What the Accountant’s Copy Can and Can’t Do window is displayed, click on Next.
  • Choose the transfer file (.qbx), or go to the folder having the transfer file.
  • Click on Open.
  • Now go to the location where you would like to save the Accountant’s Copy File.
  • After that click on Save.

Go to the server of your computer and look out for a wild card search for all company files by typing any of the below given extensions:

  • *.qbw (Working Files)

  • *.qby (Accountants Change Files)

Once you find the file, note down the location of the file and perform the below given Solution 2.

2. Solution Two: Open your file in QuickBooks

Open the file in QuickBooks on the basis of the type of your of your QuickBooks file.

A. Open a company file (.qbw) or an accountant’s copy (.qba)

  • Go to the QuickBooks File menu, now from there choose Open or Restore Company.
  • Then choose Open a Company File.
  • Click on Next.
  • Choose the desired Company file, or go to the folder having the Company File.
  • Now click on Open.

B. Restore a Backup (.qbb)

  • Go to the QuickBooks File menu and from there choose Open or Restore Company.
  • Now select Restore a Backup File.
  • Then click on Next.
  • Choose a Local backup.
  • Choose the Company File, or go to the folder having the company file.
  • After that click on Next.
  • Now go to the location where you would like to save the restored file.
  • Then click on Save.

C. Restore an Accountants Copy Transfer file (.qbx)

  • Go to the QuickBooks File menu and from there choose Open or Restore a company.
  • Now click on Convert and Accountant’s Copy Transfer File.
  • Then click on Next.
  • In case you see the  What the Accountant’s Copy Can and Can’t Do window then click on Next.
  • Choose the transfer file (.qbx), or go to the folder having the transfer file.
  • Click on Open.
  • Go to the location where you would like to save the Accountant’s Copy File.
  • Click on Save.
