After the text: <strong>\u201c1=\u201d, the Server Name <\/strong>or <strong>IP Address <\/strong>will be mentioned<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the Server Name and IP Address are incorrect, enter the correct IP Address or Server Name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uninstall and then reinstall the system&#8217;s setup.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now, check that the port is not open by the Firewall. The port should be open.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify the Server Name or IP Address and port were correctly entered in the boxes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the Windows Firewall, you need to Create an Inbound rule for the <strong>PVXWIN32.exe <\/strong>process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Navigate to <strong>Control Panel <\/strong>and open it<strong>\u2013&gt;<\/strong> click on <strong>Administrative Tools \u2013&gt; <\/strong>go to <strong>Windows firewall \u2013&gt;<\/strong> click on <strong>Advanced settings<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Right-click on <strong>Inbound Rules <\/strong>and click on <strong>New Rule<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open <strong>Program<\/strong>, click on <strong>Next<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now, open <strong>\u201cThis program path:\u201d <\/strong>and then browse to <strong>&lt;drive letter&gt;\\..\\mas90\\home\\pvxwin32.exe(e. C:\\Sage\\MAS90\\Home\\pvxwin32.exe) on server<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now, click on Next till you do not get to the \u201cSpecify the name and Description of this Rule\u201d screen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then, Enter the Name of the Rule<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now, click on Finish.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"solution-2-create-exceptions-for-sage-50-in-windows-firewall\"><\/span>Solution 2: Create Exceptions for Sage 50 in Windows Firewall<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>First,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bigxperts.com\/sage\/allow-sage-50-through-firewall\/\"> verify that the Windows firewall is preventing Sage 50<\/a> from connecting to the server. You can do this by disabling Windows Firewall using the steps given below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to the <strong>start <\/strong>menu, then <strong>settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on <strong>Update &amp; Security<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on <strong>Windows Security<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose <strong>Firewall and Network Protection<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose among the following three options:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Domain network<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Private network<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Public network<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <strong>Microsoft Defender Firewall <\/strong>and Click on <strong>Off<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Try to open the <strong>Sage 50 company file <\/strong>that you get the error with.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow the aforementioned steps once again and <strong>turn the Windows firewall on<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you have to create the rules for Windows Firewall. These are custom rules so you need to create them through the Advanced Firewall Options. You can later edit and delete these rules without any problems. Further, you\u2019ll have to create an exception for each executable file of Sage 50 that requires access to the network connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steps to create firewall rules to list Sage files as an exception<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the <strong>Start <\/strong>menu\u2019s search bar, type in <strong>Windows Defender Firewall<\/strong>. Then hit <strong>enter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose <strong>Advanced Settings <\/strong>from the left panel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the <strong>Inbound Rules<\/strong> option that is given in the left pane.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Move your mouse to the right pane, and Choose <strong>New.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the radio button against <strong>Port<\/strong>, then click on <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the specific <strong>Port numbers <\/strong>assigned to your version of Sage 50 accounting software, and then click on Next.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the available options, choose the ratio button against <strong>Allow the connection<\/strong>, and then click on <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose Private as the Domain Option, and then choose Next.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter a descriptive name for the firewall rule, a name such as \u201c<strong>Sage 50 accounting inbound<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on <strong>Finish<\/strong>.<br><strong>Note<\/strong>: these descriptive names help you to identify the custom rules that you create in the future.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go through the same steps to create an <strong>Outbound Rule <\/strong>instead of an inbound rule.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"solution-3-verify-the-correct-program-file-and-data-file-path\"><\/span>Solution 3: Verify the correct program file and data file path<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you launch a company file, Sage 50 looks for the file in the specified directory. However, if you change the directory without first changing the same in Sage 50, then the program will crash immediately. The problem, in this case, will still appear as if the software cannot connect to the server. But this is hardly the case. The software, instead, has connected to the server but cannot locate the data file in the specified location. An easy way to fix this problem is to move the data file to the default location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How to find the location of your company file:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose <strong>Maintain <\/strong>from the main menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on <strong>company information<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the <strong>Directory option <\/strong>to expand it so that you can view the full location of your company file.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to locate a remote data access company:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From the left panel, choose the <strong>Systems option<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on <strong>Company Maintenance<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>View and note<\/strong> the location of the data file\/company file.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to find the location through the new company screen:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From the File option, choose Open Company.<br><strong>Note<\/strong>: you\u2019ll find all company files listed here.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on <strong>Open an existing company file<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>View <\/strong>the directory where the company file is stored.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to locate the company file with File Explorer:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Press Windows + E, to launch the <strong>File Explorer<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the top right corner, click on the <strong>Search field<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the option <strong>All Files and Folders<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter <strong>COMPANY.DAT <\/strong>&nbsp;in the search field, and hit <strong>enter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the view option for Windows Explorer, choose <strong>Detail <\/strong>so that all the appropriate details about the files are displayed in corresponding columns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>View and note the <strong>directory <\/strong>where the company file is saved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"solution-4-fix-the-wmi-file\"><\/span>Solution 4: Fix the WMI File<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>WMI Files store essential information without which Sage 50 cannot function properly.
