It’s time for QuickBooks Desktop 2023. During this time of year, Intuit releases updates and new features for QuickBooks Desktop. Read on as I discuss the new features, outline the advantages, and highlight improvements for QuickBooks Desktop 2023. The teaser for the 2023 Enterprise can be seen here. 

QuickBooks helps in keeping track of and organizing your finances. Numerous tasks, including timekeeping, billing, and bookkeeping, are automated by it. The updated QuickBooks Desktop Product Line is prepared for release.

All QuickBooks Desktop 2023 Products will now be made available across all channels at full MSRP without any discounts, as per the announcement made on August 9, 2022. 

For 2023, users of Accountant, QuickBooks Enterprise, and QuickBooks Desktop Plus (Pro & Premier) will all be able to benefit from four new or enhanced features.

Among these features are the updated Track Vehicle Mileage feature, the new Cash Flow Hub, Reports Optimization, and improved Banking Connectivity.

Several significant and obvious updates have been made to QuickBooks. First of all, only yearly subscriptions are available for purchase for the QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Mac Plus versions.

Second, since September 6 the price of the QuickBooks Pro 2023 edition has significantly increased, going from $190 to $550 per user. QuickBooks 2023 cannot be used with earlier versions of Windows from Microsoft. On or around May 31, 2023, support for the QuickBooks 2020 version will likely also be canceled. According to the press release, QuickBooks 2023 will become generally available to small businesses on September 20, 2022. Insightful Accountant will start publishing annual series on the new features connected to QuickBooks with the anticipated release of the Desktop product line to the ProAdvisor and accounting community in 2023.

To compete with internal and external offerings and more fairly reflect the product’s value, some QB Desktop products now have additional costs. There won’t be any channel-specific discounts applied to purchases of goods for QuickBooks Desktop Plus.

Most of the features discussed are obtainable in all versions of QuickBooks Desktop 2023, such as QuickBooks Pro and QuickBooks Premier, without the essential add-ons. However, some extra helpful features are only obtainable in the QuickBooks Enterprise plan.

  3. Invoicing & Payments: This feature allows users can automate the payment matching method, send payment reminders, and keep track of the status of their invoices. Also, QuickBooks users can make customized invoices with their logos, that they can send from any device.
  4. Comprehensive Reporting: Using QuickBooks, users can monitor the performance of their businesses with profit and loss ledgers, balance sheets, and dashboards. Additionally, users can create custom reports based on current trends to provide possible investors with the financial information they need to invest.
  5. Cash Flow Hub: Since cash in and cash out is the name of the game, Cash Flow Hub in QuickBooks Desktop 2023 serves as your one-stop shop. Check, monitor, and keep track of your cash position, including bank accounts, credit cards, and loans, quickly.
  6. Vehicle Mileage Tracking: No more manually entering mileage costs, employee business trips, and odometer readings into QuickBooks. Users can add trips from a mobile device and have them approved with the new mileage app (download from the Apple App Store) for QuickBooks Desktop 2023. The miles will be calculated for you if you just enter the “start” and “end” trip locations.
  7. Better Banking Connectivity: Who doesn’t enjoy better workflows? To address security and connectivity issues, QuickBooks Desktop 2023 offers improved banking connectivity on a modernized platform. With this increased bank connectivity, online banking is enhanced by being able to connect to more financial institutions, ensuring the reliability of banking connections, and being able to control how frequently QuickBooks will retrieve bank information.
  8. Links For Enhanced Payment: Sending a link to your customer via email or text message and asking them to make a payment online will make accepting payments even simpler and faster with QuickBooks 2023 & and active QuickBooks Payments. Next, use the dashboard to send reminders and check the status of payments.
  9. Node Card Reader: With active QuickBooks Payments, a new node Card Reader is supported for QuickBooks Desktop 2023.   10. Improved Report Optimization: For users who have larger company file sizes (>300 MB), QuickBooks has made improvements on the back end that will improve the performance of the reports like A/R Aging Reports to load more quickly in QuickBooks Desktop 2023.
  11. Inventory Item Categories: In QuickBooks Desktop 2023, categorize, group, and manage your inventory and goods. Find out how to categorize your inventory here. Additionally, you can add up to four (4) levels of subcategories.

    The availability of the Inventory Report, the Inventory Valuation Summary Report, and the Inventory Valuation Summary by Site with categories are additional advantages. Remember that non-inventory items can have categories assigned to them, but these categories won’t appear in the reports mentioned above.

Until the intercompany transaction is approved, these transactions will be marked as pending. The Platinum and Diamond editions of QuickBooks Enterprise 2023 offer this feature.

You can track the status of your payment requests and send reminders in the new Payment Link dashboard. Simply text or email the payment link to your customers so they can make their payment online.

10. Inventory expiration dates on lot numbers (NEW)
