Here you’ll find a list of the most common QB errors that users usually experience on a daily basis. Here’s how they’re explained:

1. QuickBooks Error 6123 0

The error code 6123 0 is frequently seen when users attempt to restore a backup of the company file. This can also appear without warning and obstructs the operation of the company file. When opening a company file from a multi-user network, you could get the same issue. If you are restoring a backup or opening a file directly from the network, “Problem connecting to Server,” reads the error message associated with this error code.

QuickBooks Error 6123 0 can be fixed by closing some programs or modifying the company file. You can choose the section below that fits your situation for troubleshooting.

If you get Error 6123,0 when trying to open, upgrade, or restore your company file

In this case, you have to make sure you’re using QuickBooks instead of Windows Explorer. You can get an error if you open your file in Windows Explorer.

Step 1: Get the QuickBooks Tools Hub and install it

  • The QuickBooks Tool Hub assists in the correction of frequent errors
  • To use the tool hub, you must first close QuickBooks Tool Hub on Windows 10, 64-bit (It is recommended for the best experience)
  • QuickBooks should be closed
  • The QuickBooks Tool Hub’s most recent version (1.5.0.0) is available for download
  • Save the file somewhere you’ll be able to find it quickly (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop)
  • Open the downloaded file (QuickBooksToolHub.exe)
  • Install by following the on-screen instructions and agreeing to the terms and conditions
  • When the installation is complete, double-click the tool hub icon on your Windows desktop to launch it.

Step 2: Run QuickFix my Program

  • Select Program Problems from the QuickBooks Tools Hub
  • Select QuickFix my Program from the drop-down menu
  • It will take about a minute to complete the task
  • It may take longer if you have numerous versions of QuickBooks installed
  • Wait until the progress bar is completely filled
  • When QuickFix my Program is finished, open QuickBooks and double-check that your problem has been resolved.

If you are still getting the error code 6123, 0 then you’re suggested to move to step 3.

Step 3: Run the QuickBooks File Doctor

We can use File Doctor to repair your company file if QuickFix my Program didn’t work out. File Doctor automatically scans and corrects typical data problems in QuickBooks Desktop.

  • Select Company File Issues from the QuickBooks Tools Hub
  • Choose Run QuickBooks File Doctor from the drop-down menu
  • Choose your company file from the drop-down menu when QuickBooks File Doctor opens
  • If you don’t see it, select Browse to look for it on your computer
  • This is how the file will look: [your company name] .qbw
  • Continue after checking your file
  • Select Continue after entering your QuickBooks admin password
  • Your file will be repaired by the File Doctor (this could take some time)
  • Select your company from the list after the repair is complete, and then select Open QuickBooks.

After doing the above steps, if you can open your file without any issues, everything is fixed. Be sure to make a backup of your company file once you’re able to open it.

When restoring your company file, you may see Error 6123, 0 (.qbw)

Directly restore your company file from the hard drive. If you’re restoring a backup (.qbb) of your company file, follow these steps:

  • Move the backup file to your local hard disc if your file is on a network or external storage device. They should not be opened from a cloud storage folder or a portable drive.
  • Restore your company file from a backup.

When restoring a backup (.qbb) to a new machine, you’ll get Error -6123, 0

Make a company file that can be moved around (.qbm). After that, you can use it to restore your company’s file.

  • On the same computer that you used to create the backup company file, launch QuickBooks Desktop
  • As usual, open your original company file (not the backup)
  • Make a portable duplicate of your company file (.qbm)
  • On the new computer, launch QuickBooks Desktop
  • Instead of using the backup, restore your company file using the portable copy (.qbm).
