Remove Printers in QuickBooks

Uninstall Canon printer driver in QuickBooks

If you use a laptop while on the go, there’s a good chance you connect to a lot of printers in various locations that you might only use occasionally. You might unknowingly accumulate many installed printers on your computer over time. Yes, using the Settings app you can remove the devices you do not need. However, you might not be aware that removing a printer from Windows 10 doesn’t remove its driver. If you ever need them again, they will continue to be kept in a local inventory. Even though it’s a good strategy for quickly reinstalling printers, deleting the driver can help you stay organized, free up some space, and fend off (possible) printer driver issues.

You will discover how to completely remove printer drivers from your Windows 10 device in this guide.

How to completely remove a printer in QuickBooks

It takes two steps to uninstall a printer and its driver from your computer. To delete the driver files using the Printer Management app or PowerShell, you must first uninstall the printer from Windows.

Step 1: Remove the printer by using Settings

  • In Windows 10, follow these steps to remove a printer:
  • in Windows 10’s Settings.
  • Decide on Devices.
  • Pick Printers & Scanners from the menu.
  • Select the printer you wish to uninstall from the “Printers & scanners” section.
  • the button labeled “Remove device.”
  • Select Yes from the menu.

You can remove the driver from your computer after you’ve finished the steps. As an alternative, imagine that the computer runs Windows 8.1 or Windows 7. If so, you can remove the printer by right-clicking it and choosing the Remove device option in Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers.

Step 2: Delete the printer driver using Print Management

Follow these steps to delete a printer driver:

  • Launch Start.
  • Open the console by performing a search for “Control Panel” and clicking the top result.
  • On the System and Security tab, click.
  • On the Administrative Tools menu, click.
  • To edit print settings, double-click that menu item.
  • Increase the Custom Filters branch.
  • The left navigation pane’s All Drivers link should be clicked.
  • In the context menu, choose Delete from the printer driver’s right-click menu.
  • Press the Yes button.

The driver will be removed from the computer once you’ve finished the steps. Repeat the procedure for each additional printer you want to completely remove from the device.

Step 3: Using PowerShell, remove the printer driver

The Print Management app is not available in Windows 10 Home, but you can still uninstall the driver quite simply using PowerShell. These guidelines are also applicable to Windows 10 Pro.

Use these steps to remove a print driver using PowerShell:

  • Launch Start.
  • Right-click the first result from your search for PowerShell and choose “Run as administrator.”
  • To view a list of every print driver installed on Windows 10 type the command below and hit Enter: Get-PrinterDriver | List-Name Format
  • To uninstall the print driver, type the following command and hit Enter.
  • “Your-Printer-Name” as the value for Remove-PrinterDriver
  • Update the printer name in the command to the name that appears in step No. 3. If the name contains spaces, quotation marks are necessary.

The printer driver won’t be available on the system after you finish the steps. If you need to uninstall additional printers on Windows 10, you might need to repeat these steps.
