  • It will open a dialog box, enter a Batch ID, or simply choose one of the automated options
  • Make sure that ID should be unique and it cannot be one that was used in ADP before
  • Now, enter the Company Code used by ADP 
  • After that, enable the checkbox which is next to each column that you want to include in the Export 
  • Enter a new label if required to match the column name in ADP
  • Click “Column name” if you want to change the order of the columns in the export file and drag it up or down
  • Finally, click on the “Save” button. 

To add the payroll data to QuickBooks, you need to export it from ADP’s general ledger interface. 

  • To start with click the “Define G/L File” and then select the option “Use a Predefined G/L File for Map Assistant”
  • From the drop-down menu, choose the QuickBooks tab 
  • You are now prompted to “Map” the payroll items
  • To do so, you must identify the corresponding general ledger account name or number for each payroll item
  • It will allow you to smooth integration of your payroll data into the general ledger
  • You can also reuse the map whenever you export your data to QuickBooks 
  • Now, choose the desired pay period 
  • Finally, end this process by clicking the “Download” button to export data to your system. 

Steps to import ADP payroll to QuickBooks

It’s easy to import the data from ADP into your QuickBooks general ledger after you’ve exported it. Select “Import” from the “File” menu in QuickBooks. After that, select the file you just saved to your computer.

The information is automatically sent to your general ledger, where it is integrated with the accounts that already exist.

  • Initially, launch your QuickBooks and then go to the Help menu 
  • From the drop-down menu, select “QuickBooks Help” and then click on the “Search” button

  • From the menu bar, click “File” and then select the “Import” button from the drop-down menu 
  • Click “Browse” and then look for the ADP payroll report file on your system 
  • Click “Open” to import the payroll report file into QuickBooks 
  • Then click “Yes” to import the file 
  • Verify the names within the ADP report match QB account names
  • Again, click “Yes” to continue the import process 
  • Finally, QuickBooks will automatically import the ADP payroll information into the relevant sections.
