Video Script: How To Import Credit Card Transactions
In Quickbooks Desktop
Importing Credit Card Transactions in Quickbooks
might appear simple if you know the process
thoroughly.
In this video, we will tell you how you can
import credit card transactions in your Quickbooks.
So, let’s get started!
Importing Bank transactions to QuickBooks
can save you from a lot of effort and errors.
Now, the question is, what is the need to
import credit card transactions into Quickbook?
First, this feature is one of the biggest
time-savers offered by QuickBooks.
Once you connect your credit card, you can
sign in to QuickBooks and automatically classify
the transactions that will transfer daily.
However, If your credit card does not allow
a connection to QuickBooks, then you can import
transactions using a CSV file or a QBO file
with the help of Excel.
Now, How to Import Credit Card Transactions
Automatically in QuickBooks?
To add your credit card to QuickBooks, you
need the password and username that is used
to sign in to your online credit card account.
Step 1: Check Your Credit Card Company in
QuickBooks
First of all, Select Transactions and then
Banking from the left menu bar of your QuickBooks
dashboard.
If this is the first credit card you are connecting
to QuickBooks, then you need to add your credit
card account.
If you’ve already connected a bank or credit
card account, you’ll be taken to the Banking
Centre.
Next, click the green Add account button in
the upper right corner.
Then, enter your credit card company’s name
to check if it’s available to connect to QuickBooks.
If your company is not listed, you can import
your transactions with a QBO file or use a
CSV file.
Now, after choosing your bank, tap the green
Continue button.
This will automatically take you to your bank’s
sign-in page.
Step 2: Logging Into Your Credit Card Account
Now, Sign in to your credit card account.
Next, your bank might ask you to confirm that
you want to share your banking information
and give a summary of the information.
If you agree, tap on yes on your bank’s confirmation
page, and you will be taken back to QuickBooks.
Step 3: Link Your Credit Card Account to Chart
of Accounts
Now, you will get a list of accounts with
that credit card company or bank.
Choose all of the bank accounts you would
like to link to QuickBooks Online.
Next, click on an account.
A drop-down box will list the bank accounts
in your Chart of Accounts.
If your credit card account is already added
to your Chart of Accounts, select it.
Creating a New Credit Card Account
Now, click on Add new.
Ensure that The Account Type and Detail Type
must be a Credit Card.
Now, An account name is required.
If you have multiple credit cards, then you
can include the last four digits of the credit
card.
Next, click the green Save and Close button,
and you will be returned to the prior screen
with the new account selected.
Step 4: Selecting the Date Range
Now, you need to decide when QuickBooks should
begin importing your transactions.
The default start date to transfer transactions
is the start of the year.
If your credit card company or QuickBooks
does not allow you to go back that far, then
you need to transfer the older transactions
using a QBO or CSV file.
Step 5: Review Downloaded Transactions – Banking
Centre
Once you connect your bank account, QuickBooks
will take you to the Banking Centre.
Transactions for review: You can see the number
of transactions that have been imported but
not yet reviewed and classified.
Review tab: This tab lists all the transactions
imported from your selected bank or credit
card that are awaiting review.
Add account: To connect another credit card
or bank to QuickBooks, tap the Add Account
button in the upper right-hand corner and
repeat the process.
Now, your credit card account is connected,
your new transactions will be imported daily
into QuickBooks.
