  • Select Open. The software will open and no company file will open in it.

2. Second Method: Close all the Windows and then open QuickBooks Payroll and the Accounting Software

  • First of all, follow the above-mentioned steps to close QBW.exe file.
  • Once the file is closed, double-click on QB icon to open it and then long-press the ALT key in the No Company Windows.
  • After you have closed the QBW file, double-click the QuickBooks icon, (as before) and press and hold the ‘Alt’ key from the ‘NO COMPANY’ window and then open the Company File.
  • If the run-time error is still there in your QuickBooks, rename the file QBW.ini

3. Third Method: Rename the file – QBW.ini

Make sure your system setting displays all hidden files of Windows. You can find QBW.ini files in Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\QuickBooks [Version] where [Version] is the version of your QuickBooks Desktop.
