  • Private network

• Go to Microsoft Defender Firewall and Click on Off.
• Try to open the Sage 50 company file that you get the error with.
• Follow the aforementioned steps once again and turn the windows firewall on.

These advanced options enable you to set inbound and outbound rules for specific ports in order to allow the selected programs to access those sports.

Steps to open the ports for windows defender firewall to fix Sage 50 network issues:

• Go to the Start menu and type in Cmd.
• Right-click on the Command Prompt option and select Run as Administrator.
• Run the following command in the command line: netsh advfirewall firewall Add rule name=” Sage 50 port range” dir=in protocol=tcp localport=13530-13580 action=allow.
• Launch Sage 50 and try to connect to the database. If you don’t get the Sage 50 network error, then proceed with the steps below.
• Go to the Start menu and type in Windows Firewall. Launch the Firewall settings.
• Click on Advanced settings from the left panel.
• Choose Inbound rules, then click on New.
• Choose Port, then Next.
• Type in the port numbers that you want the Firewall to treat as exceptions:
  • Launch windows explorer.
  • Go to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sage Software\ConnectionManager\.
  • Double-click on the ConnectionManager.ini file and choose Notepad as the program to open the file with.
  • Note down the PORT NUMBER in the line “End Port = xxxxxx”
  • Enter port number 13531, XXXXXX in the firewall rules window.
• Choose Next.
• Click on Allow the Connection, then on Next.
• Mark both the Domain and Private options. Then click on Next.
• Input the name for the firewall rule as “Sage 50 inbound rule”, then click on Finish.
• Use the same steps to create an outbound firewall rule for Sage 50.

2. Reinstall Actian Database Manager

Sage 50 needs Actian to communicate with the data file. Whenever you query data, Sage 50 passes the request to Actian, which then serves the query to the database and fetches the required data. If Actian files are damaged, then reinstalling it can fix the database error.

Steps to uninstall Actian from your server:

• Either close Sage 50 and all its instances, or restart your server system.
  Note: Before closing Sage 50 on the server, you should ask all the other users to log out of the company file; otherwise, the changes that they made to the data will not be saved in the company file.
• Press Windows + R to open the run too.
• In the text field, enter AppWiz.cpl. Hit Enter.
• Choose Actian PSQL v13 Workgroup R2 from the Programs & Features window.
• From the toolbar above, click on Uninstall.
• When the installation wizard appears, follow the instructions provided to uninstall Actian completely from your system. 
• Restart your system after you’ve uninstalled Actian from the system.
• Delete the pvswarch and pvsw folders from the C drive.
• Further, delete the following files from the C drive:
  1. pvsw.log file 
  2. PSQL_v[version number os Sage 50]_Install.log file.
• Remove the Pervasive Software folders from Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders.
• Press Windows + R to open the run command again.
• Input regedit in the text field once again, and hit enter.
• On the Computer option, hover the mouse and right-click. Then choose the Export option to create a backup of the windows registry, which can be restored if you accidentally delete an essential windows registry.
• Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software and delete the Pervasive Software and PEYX489ZK.
• Close the Registry Editor.

Steps to reinstall Actian in windows:

1. Press Windows + E and the File Explorer window will appear.
2. Browse to C:\Sage\Sage50_[version]. Or go to the location where you installed Sage 50 in.
3. Go to the PervasiveMin folder and launch the SetupGroup32_x82.exe. Then click on Next.
4. After accepting the license agreement, click on Next.
5. Click on Complete, then on Next.
6. Click on Install, to begin the installation of action on your system.
7. Click on Finish once the installation completes, then restart your system.
