Steps to fix Sage Error 1053: Connection Manager

1. Correct the Connection Manager Settings:

  • Select Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services
  • Right Click the connection manager and then select properties and log on to the tab
  • Select Apply
  • Go to the General Tab and then start and then restart
  • Quit Services
  • Start the connection manager
  • If the error arises again revert to local system, it will start without showing up any error

2. Restart the DHCP Network Manager Protocol

  • Go to the Control panel
  • Select Administrative tools followed by services
  • Look for DHCP Client
  • Right Click to Stop
  • Select Sage 50 Connection Manager
  • Right Click and Start
  • Select DHCP Client again and Start
  • Open Sage 50

3. Check the Cable Of the Internet

Remove the Cable of the internet from the Work station and start the Connection Manager from Control Panel then go to Administrative tools and Services. The manager plugs the cable into the workstation and continues with the software.


Alternate methods to resolve Sage 50 Error 1053: Connection Manager


Method #1:

  • Go to Control Panel open Administrative Tools, then Services.
  • Right-tap on the Sage 50 Database Connection Manager (for Sage 50 2013 or higher) / Sage Simple Accounting Database Connection Manager (for Sage Simple Accounting 2012 or earlier), then choose Properties.
  • Choose the Log on tab.
  • Fill in the name and password of the user account that you use to log in to Windows
  • Choose Apply

Note: If you do not have a password for your account, add a password using the User Accounts section of the Control Panel.

  • Pick the General tab.
  • Choose Start to continue the service
  • Turn off service setting

Note: If there is still an error starting the connection manager, retreat to the regional system account. It can work and begin service without any issue.

Method #2:

  1. Press Windows + R button
  2. Type Regedit then press enter
  3. Choose file and right-click on and select export

  6. Find the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\pc\CurrentControlSet\Services\Simply Accounting Database Connection Manager.
  7. In the right panel, dual tap on Object Name.
  8. In the Edit String search box that arises, type Local system in the IN VALUE data field, then choose OK.
  9. Close Registry Editor.
  10. Go to the control panel and select Administrative Tools the choose services.
  11. Right-tap on the Sage 50 Database Connection Manager (for Sage 50 2013 or higher) / Sage Simple Accounting Database Connection Manager (for Sage Simple Accounting 2012 or earlier), then choose Properties.

Method #3:

  1. Go to the control panel then click on Administrative Tools, then choose Services.
  2. Move cursor down to the DHCP Client.
  3. Right-tap and choose stop
  4. Move cursor down to the Sage 50 Database Connection Manager (for Sage 50 2013 or higher) / Sage Simply Accounting Database Connection Manager (for Sage Simply Accounting 2012 or prior).
  5. Right-tap and choose start
  6. Move cursor upside to the DHCP client
  7. Attempt opening Sage 50 again.
  8. You may require rebooting the PC for some services to restart correctly.

Method #4:

  1. Remove the Ethernet cable from the PC
  2. Begin Connection Manager from Control Panel – Admin Tools – Services tab
  3. If it begins, plug the Ethernet cable back in.
