• Log into windows as an administrator
• Type Windows Firewall with Advanced Security of your computer
• Click on Inbound Rules
• Click on New Rule on the left navigation panel
• Mark the radio button against Program and hit next
• Select ‘This Program Path’ and browse to the QuickBooks executable (.exe) file. Hit next
• Select ‘Allow the Connection.’ Click on next.
• Mark all the options in the next window
• Type in the name for the rule along with a description
• Click on finish

When typing in the name for the rule, you should type in a descriptive name that will help you in identifying the rule later.

You need to follow the same procedure in order to set the outbound rules.

Also, add specific ports to exception so that QuickBooks can easily send and receive network requests. Once these rules are set, you can start with the methods defined below.

Antivirus and Other Security Software

You need to include QuickBooks as an exception to your antivirus or other security software. Regular updates to security software can often block network ports needed by QuickBooks.
