This could be due to internal or external errors, delays, or even a programming bug or hardware issue. If you’ve just installed Sage 50 and encountered issues, contact Sage 50 Support for help. If the software crashes on launch or during use, several solutions can address the problem, allowing you to resolve the error based on your specific situation.

Scenario 2: Sage 50 not responding when printing reports

Updates from Sage have already been made to stop Sage 50 from not responding when a report is printed using the year-end wizard. The most recent updates can be installed to fix the issue. If you need to update every linked workstation, you may also use the network installation options.

Note: After installing the updates, print all your reports before you close the year, because these reports will not be available after closing the financial year in the company file.

Scenario 3: Sage 50 does not respond when saving a transaction

Due to issues with the database engine or damage to the DDF file, the Sage 50 US version may malfunction when you save a transaction. Sage 50 will fall every time you try to save a transaction, regardless of the sort of transaction you generate. Even when you alter data in an invoice or bill and then try to save the modifications, the software still crashes.

Step 1: Delete the DDF Files

  • Log into the Sage 50 company file with an admin account.
  • Go to the Maintain menu, then choose Company Information.
  • Note the Directory for the company file.
  • Close Sage 50 on the server and all the connected workstations.
  • Press Windows + E to launch Windows Explorer.

  • Choose Yes to change the extension of the file.
  • Find DDL Files in the same directory and delete them.
  • Launch Sage 50 and log into the company file.

To run all the data-related capabilities of Sage 50, the Actian PSQL Engine conducted communication between the database and the application. Reinstall Actian to make sure that no software files are corrupted if Sage 50 still fails when you save a transaction.

Step 2: Restart Actian

  • Close Sage 50 on the server and all connected workstations.
  • Launch the task manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
  • Go to the Details tab and select w3dbsmgr.exe.
  • Choose End Task, then End Process when the confirmation box appears.
  • Go to the Services tab and right-click on Silage.
  • Choose Start.
  • Verify if you still get the Sage drive sync error.

Additionally, do a system scan to get rid of any harmful software, including ransomware. Contact your company’s IT administrator if you believe that ransomware has encrypted a file that belongs to your organization.

Scenario 4: Sage 50 not responding when opening a company file

To determine if the software files or the data file are damaged, open an example company file. To prevent Sage 50 from not responding, you must restore a recent backup of the company file if the business file is destroyed.

Step 1: Download a company shared with remote data access

  • In Sage 50, go to the File menu.
  • Choose Connect to a Shared company.
  • Input your email address to view the company files shared with you.

These features persuaded Sage users to upgrade to Windows 11 because it would provide them with a competitive advantage in the marketplace. However, when they attempt to launch Sage 50 after installing Windows 11, it freezes or crashes.

Step 1: Determine the Sage 50 compatibility mode

  • Select the Properties button.
  • Select Compatibility.
  • Click the compatibility mode tab and then select an option from the drop-down menu.
  • Choose Windows 11 Sage 5o with administrative rights.
  • Make sure that the High DPI scales are given top priority.

  • To open the run window, press Windows + R.
  • Enter “regedit” into the Search box and press the Enter key.
  • Select File from the menu bar, then select the Export tab.
  • Using the “All” selection
  • Enter Sage 50 and then press the “Save” button.
  • When you’re finished, it’ll back up the registry.
  • “HKEY CURRENT USERSoftwarePeachtreeVersion(Version #)” should be opened. This will take you to the window that stores your software version information. Simply scroll down and make a note of the flavor version on which it was installed.
  • It will display the companies’ company directories.
  • Delete the company file by right-clicking on it and then pressing the Delete button.

Step 3: Sage 50 Upgrade

Check to see if you have the upgraded version of Sage 50; if not, you should be prepared for the upgrade process.

  • Make a complete backup of your data.
  • Sage 50’s most recent version appears in the system.
  • Want to upgrade Sage 50 to the most recent release? To do so, follow these steps:
  • Launch the Sage 50 Help Search.
  • Select the About tab.
  • See the Program Details section for the program directory address.
